The dates for Spanish construction exhibition Smopyc have shifted again to 17-20 November, 2021. The event was originally scheduled for 1 to 4 April 2020 before being changed to 23 to 26 September, 2020 and then delayed again to 26-29 May 2021.
A statement from organiser Feria de Zaragoza said the change was due to the uncertainties surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic and the likelihood that these would presist in the first months of 2021.

Komatsu today announced it is accelerating the development of smaller drills for surface mining applications. Furthering its commitment to be a full solutions provider to the mining industry, Komatsu is expanding its P&H product line to include articulating boom track drills. The first machine in the series, the 44XT, is now being tested at the company’s Arizona Proving Grounds prior to release later this year. The 44XT is capable of drilling 4” to 8” (102 to 203 mm) diameter holes using down-the-hole (DTH) percussive hammers. In October 2018, Caterpillar is to launch another new surface drill in the form of the small rotary MD6200, a highly transportable offering (has the option for example to leave the mast on and load it on a truck for moving to another mine, jobsite or bench area), which is expected to be available in the market in Q1 2019. As reported in Nikkei Asian Review, Hitachi Construction Machinery has acquired two suppliers of parts and services for mining equipment with operations in the US and Australia, continuing its expansion into the support business amid sluggish demand in its mainstay machinery market.
Bradken has agreed to a takeover bid by Japan’s Hitachi Construction Machinery (HCM) in a deal analysts say may indicate the worst of the mining downturn has passed. Yuichi Tsujimoto, HCM President said his company believes Bradken’s “businesses are complementary with our mining equipment services business.
